I have counselling experience in both the NHS and charity sectors but I now see individual clients in my private practice only, I also offer private supervision to trainee and qualified counsellors, as well as supervising diploma-level students at a local college. I work face-to-face in Old Malden (KT3 6PW) and online, via Zoom. Fees are variable depending on circumstances, and concessions are available for trainee counsellors.
I am a naturally empathic and compassionate person and I believe that building strong, collaborative relationships is key to the success of my counselling and supervisory work. Reflective in my approach, I bring maturity, warmth and humour to my work, together with insight gained not only from a rigorous, Masters level training and many years of counselling experience, but also from my many years of personal therapy and a long working history in healthcare, including a spell in nursing.
Since qualifying with an MA in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy in 2013, I have undertaken certification training in Schema Therapy, EMDR and Relational Supervision. I have also taught counselling skills & theory up to level 3, My work has encompassed a broad range of client presentations and difficulties, and I have worked with people from all walks of life, through all stages of life. I am sensitive to issues of difference, I embrace diversity I am inclusive in my approach to life and work.
Counselling supervision helps to ensure that high professional standards are maintained. It gives counselling practitioners the opportunity to reflect in depth about their work with clients, and is also an important aspect of self-care. My aim is to provide a welcoming and non-judgmental environment for my supervisees, where they can feel safe enough to explore and reflect on all aspects of their work with clients.
